UNIT – II
- History, origin and development of Kathak.
- Study of major Gharanas of Kathak – Lucknow and Jaipur Gharana.
- Instruments used in Kathak Dance.
- Short notes- Amad, Salami, Tihai, Gat, Theka, Digun, Chougun, Laya.
- Knowledge the Talas - Trital, Dadra, Kaharva.
- Compositional patterns – Bhajan (Sagun and Nirgun)

- Life sketches of Guru Amobi Singha, Tanjore Brothers and Sundar Prasad.
